About New Zealand Radiata Pine Wood:
Radiata Pine, better known as 'New Zealand Pine' is a softwood tree that contains many properties that make it very suitable for furniture and furniture making. It has a density equal to that of hardwoods like poplar, mahogany and oak. Its uniform density ensures a smooth and consistent texture and confers its excellent machining, painting and staining properties; there is almost no variation in color between pieces. Da Vinci's pine wood originates from forests maintained by managers that enforce environmental responsibility and the conservation of forest wildlife.

This crib was okay at first, but I am horribly disappointed, both with the crib and with the customer service at Million Dollar Baby (Da Vinci's parent company). We bought this for our first child, who is now 11 months old. Two of the slats have become warped considerably, simply from my small-for-her-age daughter pulling herself from lying down to sitting. The paint is also chipping off in four places on the drop side.I emailed Million Dollar Baby about these issues (with photos) and because my crib was purchased over a year ago (it hasn't been USED for that long, though) they ignored my concerns and told me that my warranty was void but I could buy another drop side and pay for shipping. They simply said that their cribs are made according to legal standards - never mind that with use, the crib is a potential safety hazard (the slats are on the way to having too much space between them).Don't deal with this company. Their customer service is non-existent (they don't even provide a phone number - you can only email the parts department). This crib is horribly constructed and there is no way we'll be able to use it for another child. Don't be fooled by good reviews from people who haven't had the crib long enough to test its durability.
Very easy to assemble, my husband put it together in 30 minutes. Simple design, well made and good quality. The side rail is easy to work too. [...] We are very pleased with this crib.
I ordered this crib for my daughter's new room since we were expecting another child and she is too little for a toddler bed. [...] The crib was super easy to assemble (even at 8 months pregnant, I was able to do it by myself), and it worked fine for the past 4 months...until this morning. I went to get my daughter up, and many of the slots had again come out of the drop rail side! I've notified the manufacturer, as well as this retailer and I'm awaiting a response. Not a quality crib.
I bought this crib because of the positive reviews it received about being sturdy and well made. Unfortunately, the first crib I received was damaged cosmetically (chips out of the wood and the teething guard was cracked). Then when we put it together, it was terribly shaky and rickety due to problems with the pre-drilled holes. This websites customer service was awesome, and they sent a new one out immediately. The second crib was much better, but still not the solid quality I had hoped for. It will work fine for us, but I wanted to give my opinion to balance out the other reviews.
I was really surprised by how nice this crib is and the quality. I was skeptical about buying a less expensive crib, but I am very happy that I went with this one. It was shipped to us in perfect condition and it went together very easily... I put it together myself in one evening! This is not one of those fancy convertible cribs, but once you dress it up with your baby bedding and nursery decor, it looks really great. I am very happy with this purchase!
