Kolcraft started in Chicago in 1946 when Leo Koltun made playpen pads out of cotton batting and oilcloth covers for post World War II babies. In 1949, he found himself with surplus padding and used his ingenuity to invent the all-around crib and playard bumper pad.

Nice bassinet with a good neutral color scheme ( ours is cream with light yellow) and a good assortment of 'entertainment'; variable speed vibrate that tapers off after ~10minutes being the most useful. The stand can be converted to rock (nevver ended up using that yet) and the bed can be removed from the stand and brought into another room. Only con was the lack of a good diagram with 'this side up' captions and the like for installation. You have to get all of the bed part just right or the fabric will block pieces of the structure. And the wood base for the bed will go in upside down- but ultimately it will not work that way. Still, that was only a few minutes of since forgotten frustration.

ITEM IS VERY STURDY---IT ROCKS --AND ROLLS VERY EASILY--WHOLE THING SNAPS TOGETHER SOLIDLY BY USE PUSH PINS ATTACHED TO METAL TUBING--ALL YOU NEED IS A SMALL PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWDRIVER TO OPEN/CLOSE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT--YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY 4 AA BATTERIES--IT IS JUST GREAT--IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS LOOK NO FURTHER--THIS IS A VERY FINE PRODUCT

Great bassinet for a newborn. It gave me peace of mind being able to keep the baby with us in the bedroom. The baby likes to listen to the music and nature sounds but the mobile and the vibration mode are too noisy.
