I use this stool in my children's photography business to help keep little ones in one place. In addition to sitting on it 'normally', they can also sit with the chair turned around backwards, feet through the opening and hanging on to the top/back of the chair. While it is smooth wood, a small pice of rug pad (no slip) helps young ones sit easily.
